The 1st Annual CMA Memorial Award of Excellence was awarded to Coach Clyde Parrish, For His Unselfish Dedication to His Students and Athletes at the CMA Reunion in Myrtle Beach SC on May 14, 2011. The Award was presented by previous CMA board president Frank Sossamon, and accepted by Captain Parrish's daughter, Margaret Parrish Ledford and her husband Randy. Many of Coach Parrish's athletes were on hand to offer their praise of the coach and his dedication to the school and the sports he coached, as well as the subjects that he taught.
This is the 1st of the CMA Memorial Award of Excellence that will be awarded each year at the Annual CMA Reunion. The selection of the 1st award recipient was made by the CMA Board of Directors. Future award recipient will be nominated by the CMA Alumni Association Members and the top 3 nominees will be voted on by the membership.
Eligibility for the award will be as follows, recipient must be a past member of the Carolina Military Academy faculty or student body. No current director of the CMA Board of Directors will be eligible for this award during his term in office. It is our desire that this award will be given to the most deserving amongst us each year. Those faculty members that exhibited a dedication to their students and the school, and those in the student body who have given there time and energy to keep the memory of Carolina Military Academy and it's values alive. This award should not become a popularity contest. Nominees should be selected with great earnest and dignity, the person making the nomination will also be asked include a short essay describing why he or she feels this person deserves to be nominated for this award.
There is a form below to make your nomination and write your essay, the nomination will be secret and will only be know to the Board of Directors. The top 3 nominees will then be voted on by secret ballot by the membership. The award winner will be announced at the CMA Annual Reunion in Myrtle Beach SC during the CMA Memorial Service on Saturday May, 5, 2012.
